To honor and remember Hope Perez, Credential Analyst for the Multiple Subject Program, the College of Education and the Perez family are establishing an endowed scholarship in her name.
Born in Madera California, Hope earned an AS degree through Madera Community College, married Ralph, her high school sweetheart, and worked at Pacific Bell for 13 years.
In 1992, Hope joined Cal Poly as a clerical assistant in the Credential Office in the University Center for Teacher Education and in 1996 became a Credential Analyst. Hope's work with students in the Multiple Subject credential program and the Master of Arts in Education candidates at Cal Poly was essential to the college. She was well-known and highly regarded across campus as a dedicated and passionate advocate of education and a supportive colleague. She served as a union steward and campus union president for her unit. Hope was also a driving force in the campus and off-campus Latino Out-Reach Council.
The Perez family requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the scholarship established in her honor. This scholarship is dedicated to her sense of service, hard work and kindness, and will be awarded on the basis of financial need to a first generation or bilingual college student seeking an elementary credential.
Donations can be made out to the College of Education / Hope Perez Scholarship (Z0002) and sent to the address below or a donation may be made online at http://www.giving.calpoly.edu/
